4 Widths of K̄ - nuclear deeply bound states in a dynamical model

چکیده
The relativistic mean field (RMF) model is applied to a system of nucle-ons and a ¯ K meson, interacting via scalar and vector boson fields. The model incorporates the standard RMF phenomenology for bound nucleons and, for the ¯ K meson, it relates to low-energy ¯ KN and K − atom phenomenology. Deeply bound ¯ K nuclear states are generated dynamically across the periodic table and are exhibited for 12 C and 16 O over a wide range of binding energies. Substantial polarization of the core nucleus is found for these light nuclei. Absorption modes are also included dynamically, considering explicitly both the resulting compressed nuclear density and the reduced phase space for ¯ K absorption from deeply bound states. The behavior of the calculated width as function of the ¯ K binding energy is studied in order to explore limits on the possible existence of narrow ¯ K nuclear states.

¯k-nuclear Deeply Bound States? ∗
Following the prediction by Akaishi and Yamazaki of relatively narrow K̄-nuclear states, deeply bound by over 100 MeV where the main decay channel K̄N → πΣ is closed, several experimental signals in stopped K reactions on light nuclei have been interpreted recently as due to such states. In this talk I review (i) the evidence from K-atom data for a deep K̄-nucleus potential, as attractive as V K̄ (...

متن کاملOverview of K̄-Nuclear Quasi-Bound States
The K̄-nucleus interaction near threshold is strongly attractive and absorptive as suggested by fits to the strong-interaction shifts and widths of K−-atom levels [1]. Global fits yield ‘deep’ optical potentials with Re VK̄(ρ0) ∼ −(150 − 200) MeV [2–5], whereas more theoretically inclined studies that fit the low-energy K−p reaction data, including the I = 0 quasi-bound state Λ(1405) as input for...
متن کاملOverview of K̄-Nuclear Theory and Phenomenology Search for Narrow Quasibound States
Experimental evidence for K̄-nuclear quasibound states is briefly reviewed. Theoretical and phenomenological arguments for and against deep K̄-nucleus potentials which might allow for narrow quasibound states are reviewed, with recent calculations suggesting that ΓK̄ ≥ 100 MeV for BK̄ ≤ 100 MeV. Results of RMF calculations that provide a lower limit of ΓK̄ ∼ 50± 10 MeV on the width of deeply bound s...

We critically revise the recent claims of narrow deeply bound kaonic states and show that at present there is no convincing experimental evidence for their existence. In particular, we discuss in details the claim of Kpp deeply bound state associated to a peak seen in the Λp invariant mass spectrum from K nuclear absorption reactions by the FINUDA collaboration. An explicit theoretical simulati...
